Paula Denise Flores (née Matheson) was born on August 4, 1953, to Joseph and Hazel Matheson. The youngest of three, she grew up alongside her older brother, Mel, and older sister, LaVaune. As a child, Paula loved go-cart racing with her dad, twirling her baton, and serving as a yell leader—early signs of her vibrant and adventurous spirit.
Paula met the love of her life, Ron Flores, in 9th grade at Rivera Junior High. The two dated throughout high school and were married on June 1, 1974. Together, they built a life filled with love and faith, raising three children: Randy, Robyn, and Ronald. A woman of many talents, Paula was self-taught in several areas and approached her work with determination and passion. As a computer programmer at Black Canyon, she mastered programming by studying manuals, impressing colleagues and supervisors alike with her tireless work ethic and optimistic demeanor. Paula’s greatest passion, however, was her faith in Jesus Christ. In her early 20s, she committed her life to the Lord, led by Ron, and embraced her faith wholeheartedly. She eagerly participated in church life, taking on leadership roles alongside Ron in young adult and youth ministries. In 1982, when she and Ronf ounded Harvest House Church in Pico Rivera, Paula served as the worship leader, choir director, bookkeeper, elder, Bible teacher, and more—embodying the heart of the ministry.
When Harvest House merged with Rivera Foursquare Church in 1989, Paula’s influence grew even further. She took on various roles within the Foursquare denomination, excelling in areas such as properties and credentials, IT direction, and Women’s Ministries. She transitioned to full-time ministry at Rivera Foursquare in 1999, helping the church thrive under her leadership. In 2005, Paula and Ron moved to Las Vegas to pastor Meadows Fellowship, where she continued pastoring and serving until her passing.
Paula will be remembered as a passionate worshipper, a skilled leader, a steadfast friend, a tenderhearted spirit, and above all, a lover of Jesus. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she impacted through her ministry and example of faith.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Ron, her three children (Randy, Robyn, and Ronald), and nine beloved grandchildren (Ethan, Micah, Grace, Julia, Ryan, Clara, Sloane, Rowan, and Hawkins). She is also survived by her brother, Mel.
