Petra Brown, 77, of Las Vegas, passed away May 26, 2010. She was born June 29, 1932, in Colima, Mexico, and moved to Las Vegas in 1968, where she resided for 42 years. Petra retired from the casino industry where she worked at the Tropicana for 30 years. Petra was a very devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved caring for her family and friends. She also found great enjoyment in caring for her home and garden. Petra was preceded in death by her husband, Art Brown; and daughter, Guadalupe Lepe. She is survived by her three sons, Jose Horta, Ismael Horta and Roberto Horta; three daughters, Graciela Hernandez, Irene Taylor and Zenaida Pearce; 16 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Visitation will be noon-7 p.m. Tuesday, June 1, at Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 2, at St. Christopher Catholic Church, 1840 N. Bruce St. Graveside services will follow at noon at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Buchanan Blvd., in Boulder City.
