Prema Kashyap -- Born on August 20, 1948, to Ramchandra and Dharma Prasad. She lived a happy childhood in a small town of Dehri-On-Sone, Bihar, India. She was educated up to high school and has two living brothers and two living sisters. In March of 1960, Prema married Banshi Kashyap. She gave birth to five children and raised them with love and care as a homemaker. In July of 1977, the Kashyap family shifted from Banka, Jharkhand, to the U.S. After settling in Overland Park, Kansas, Prema took it upon herself to learn and write English. She was fortunate to see all her children getting married. Prema became a grandmother eleven times, which was perhaps her greatest joy as she loved to spend time with them as often as she could. After moving to Las Vegas in May 2007, she made many friends and enjoyed outdoor activities. In May of 2014, after undergoing a heart surgery, she developed complications and passed away on July 31, 2014. Prema will always be remembered for her passion for Indian cooking, clothing, jewelry and a good conversation. She opened her house to everyone and enjoyed the liveliness of having her family and friends around her. But most of all, she had the most generous heart and gave her love to her family and friends. Prema may not be with us now, but she will always live in our hearts and memories forever.
