In loving memory of our father, grandfather and uncle, Ray O’Connor. Dad was the son of Dorothy and “Pig Iron” O’Connor and was born in South Buffalo, New York, where he was born and raised with his four brothers and sister. Dad was the last surviving sibling.
Our father joined the United States Air Force in 1954, eventually retiring at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, Nevada… the city he would make his home for nearly 50-years. He married our Mother Eileen (also of western New York) and they were together for 47 years before Mom passed away last July.
During his 20+ years of service in the United States Air Force, he served our nation in Germany, South Korea and did two tours of duty in Vietnam before returning stateside. In Dad’s civilian life, he got into the men’s clothing business and developed a large group of loyal customers, many of them who became friends. Dad’s personality was like that!
Dad, Uncle Ray, Grandpa O is survived by his son R.J. of Colorado; daughter Kelli of Las Vegas; four grandchildren, Matthew, Caitlin, Andrew, and Timothy; and two great-grandchildren, Oakley and Mercer. He was also a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews across the United States.
Dad, enjoy your reunion with Mom --- we’ll be just fine. A Memorial Mass Service will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales, 1111 Michael Way, Las Vegas, NV 89108.
