

Raymond "Ray" John Thomas went "home to the Lord" Friday, April 9, 2010. He was 69 years old. Ray was a resident of Las Vegas for over 27 years. He was born Jan. 21, 1941, in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. At age 17, Ray enlisted and served his country with pride, as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps from 1958 to 1962. He later served as a security officer for many years at several different casinos in Las Vegas. Ray had an enduring faith, a great sense of humor and a beautiful smile that will be missed, but never forgotten, by all who knew him. He loved his cigarettes, playing the slot machines at Albertson's, pizza, Burger King, the New York Yankees and the New York Giants. Ray is survived by his wife, Myrna; and sons, Raymond, Robert and Robin. Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Monday, April 19, with a Rosary at 6 p.m. An additional visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, April 20, followed by a funeral service, all at Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Ray will be laid to rest at 1:20 p.m. at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Buchanan Blvd., in Boulder City.
