Richard was born in 1931 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Edna and Richard Sedin, Sr. He had three siblings, Patricia, Virginia and David. Richard graduated from Johnson High School in June 1948. He attended Rasmussen Business College and U.C.L.A where he studied accounting and business administration.
Richard Arlen Sedin Jr. was very proud of his military service. He served honorably as a Sargent in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War.
In 1952, Richard married Faith. They raised four children, Richard lll, Lana, Tammy and Brian Sedin.
In 1971, Richard married his love and partner in life, business, and crime, Pauline. Richard helped raise two stepsons, Conrad and Gerald Sedin.
Richard worked as an accountant, auditor, tax preparer and financial analyst. He was also a very successful real estate entrepreneur. He worked for Standard Oil (Chevron) of California from 1952 through his retirement in 1985. From 1975, forward Richard, Pauline, and their boys, opened and operated AAA Beauty Supply AKA Excel Beauty Products Inc.
Richard loved good friends, barbecues, dancing, Yahtzee and winning at cards. He also loved sports. Richard was an avid swimmer and played in an adult baseball league. Nothing made him happier than watching his children and grandchildren on the playing field.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Edna, his sisters, Patricia and Virginia, his brother David, his wife, Pauline, his children, Lana and Brian, and his granddaughter Hannah.
Richard is loved and will be greatly missed by his children, Richard (Louisa), Tammy (Nick), Conrad (Ronna) and Gerald (Tammy), his Grandchildren, Nathan (Sarah), Nicholas (Bronwen), Christina (Charles), Mary (Andy) Brandon, Derek (Sierra), Austin, Kyle, Madison and Harrison, and his Great Grandchildren, Nate Jr., Sabrina, Abigail, Cecelia, Nick, Katherine, Betty, Gus, D.J., Addison, Luke, Avery, Xander and Brinley.
Richard will also be missed by his best friend and companion Lynn. They shared many adventures and memories over 40 years and were lifelong friends. Our love and thanks to Lynn, her children and grandchildren, who have always treated Richard as a member of their family.
We want to give a final shout-out to “Baby”, Richard’s K-9 diva, who never left Richard’s side (literally NEVER) for more than 15 years. Their relationship was one of truly unconditional love!
Rest in Peace, Richard. We love you and will miss you. We will honor your memory every day.
A memorial service will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on March 6, 2021 at the Palm Mortuary Downtown located at 1325 North Main Street, Las Vegas, Nevada. 89101. Richard will be laid to rest next to his wife Pauline at the National Cemetery in Riverside California on March 11, 2021.
