

Rick was born on October 20, 1934 at Seaside Hospital in Long Beach, California. His parents were Adelbert and Rose Shaw. Rick was raised in Long Beach, California with his two older brothers, Russell and Delbert. Rick graduated from Wilson High School in 1953. During his high school years, Rick worked as a lifeguard at the Colorado Lagoon, he also played water polo, swam, and worked on the fishing boats which is where his love of fishing began.
Rick greatly enjoyed what he did for a living., he was employed for 35 years by GTE. His primary occupation was an engineer. Some of his most prestigious awards included the GTE La Croix Award which he received while helping rescue a young lady.
Rick was an Air Force Veteran. He was stationed in Japan and Korea. Rick saw action for the Korean Conflict.
Rick passed away on October 30, 2013 at Las Vegas, Nevada. He is survived by his wife, Carole; his three children, Leonard, Nannette, and Richard; his six grandchildren, Leonard Jr., Tiffany (deceased), Lauren, Glenn, Ally, and Ciaran; and his five great-grandchildren, Elijah, Mati, Cash, Noah, and Presley. Services were held at Palm Northwest Mortuary in Las Vegas, Nevada.
