

Rita Helen Hussey-Harvey was born February 19, 1944 in Kansas City, Kansas to Anne Maye King and William L Hussey II. She was a Las Vegas resident for over 20 years and passed away at home on Monday June 13, 2016. She was a courageous single parent with five children that loved her very much; and did not hinder her from pursuing her goals. She was a Mama, daddy and Santa. Rita graduated from St. Mary’s College with honors Magna Cum laude (straight A’s) while maintaining a stable God-fearing household. She was a blessed strong minded black woman who survived numerous bouts of cancer for over 45 years; while assisting in raising eight grandchildren until her two daughters got their lives in order. It’s wasn’t all an uphill battle. She threw the best Birthday Parties and was a phenomenal cook! She could have easily pursued a star studded career in party planning, Wedding planner, no child left out. Our cousins were like brother and sisters always together. With a Master degree in psychology, major in sociology and a bachelor in science; she had a remedy for everyone personalities. With all of her credentials she chose to be used by God and keep her family together. She married in her late 40th to find out that she could do without a man after all. Threw it all, she stood on her Faith and experienced miracle upon miracle and trusted Christ every step of the way. She was blessed to live long enough to become a major part of her great grandchildren’s’ lives. For generations to come we will speak of her perseverance and dependence on God’s grace, mercy and promises to guide her to the kingdom. She was predeceased by her parents and leave behind a host of Family, Friends and Loved Ones.
