Las Vegas - Robert Harrison Campbell, 8 months, died peacefully in the arms of his parents at Sunrise Children’s Hospital February 7, 2016.
“Harry” was born June 3, 2015, in Las Vegas, NV, to Major Robert Douglas Campbell and Major Jenny Lynn Coker, United States Air Force. His grandparents are Dr. Robert George and Carol Ann Campbell of Ernul, NC and the late Daniel Wilford Coker survived by his wife, Sandee Owen Coker of Birmingham, AL.
Though his life was brief, Harry brought immense joy to each and every person privileged enough to meet him or hear his story. He was a brave and tenacious little boy filled with desire to live, love, and dance. Wherever he was situated, you would stumble upon music, a patient and humble nursing staff, and grins abundant. Harry loved to swing, to be held, and to listen to his dedicated parents read from a great number of books.
Harry spent his time split among care at Sunrise Children’s Hospital of Las Vegas, NV, Primary Children’s Hospital of Salt Lake City, UT, and in-home care in Las Vegas, Nevada. Harry’s parents are thankful for the support and expertise they received day after day.
Harry was also well loved by his Air Force community who spent an insurmountable amount of effort to give Robert and Jenny the time and space they needed to love their son every moment possible.
Harry is survived by his aunt, Catherine Ann Campbell of Raleigh, NC, his uncle Jesse Daniel Coker, aunt Sarah Maria Coker, and great-grandparents Wilford E. and Mildred H. Coker, all of Birmingham, AL. In addition, he is mourned by numerous cousins, uncles, and aunts - along with countless friends and adopted family who were impacted by his bright spirit, a witness of God’s love for us.
A celebration of Robert Harrison Campbell’s life will be held in Las Vegas at Nellis Air Force Base on February 12. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Sunrise Children’s Hospital’s Ronald McDonald room renovation online. The family will host a visitation in Birmingham at Hunter Street Baptist Church on February 19. A private graveside service will also occur in Birmingham as Harry’s body is laid to rest next to his “Dan-daddy.”
