

Robert Edward Marshall was born on May 4, 1948, in St. Louis, Missouri. He was the third child of Robbie B. Marshall and Bennie Marshall. Both parents, his stepfather Norman I Holcomb and his sister, Mildred Reed, precede him in death. Robert was married to Ellen Marshall for a few years before they divorced. He accepted Christ at an early age and remained grounded in his faith throughout his life. Robert was a loving and devoted father to his two sons, Antwon and LaRenzo Marshall.
Robert was educated in the St. Louis Public School System and graduated from Vashon High School in 1967. He began his college education at Southeast Missouri State University (SEMO) in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. While attending SEMO, he was drafted into the United States Army, where he proudly served his country and received an honorable discharge. After his military service, Robert returned to St. Louis, Missouri, where he began his professional career at the Federal Reserve Bank.
After completing his military service in 1973, Robert relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada and continued his education at the University of Nevada - Las Vegas, earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration on August 24, 1976. He later went on to earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from San Diego State University. Robert made history as the City of Las Vegas’ first Black license inspector, recognized in the local newspaper as “the best qualified for the job.” Robert continued his professional journey with Sprint and Centel as an Environmental Health & Safety Manager. During his tenure, he earned numerous awards and certifications, including Certified Hazardous Material Manager (CHMM) and Certified Utility Safety Administrator (CUSA).
Robert was deeply involved in the Las Vegas community. He volunteered with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Members and Advocates for Minority Adoptions (MAMA), and several other community organizations. He was a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. and a dedicated supporter of his sons’ soccer teams.
Robert leaves to cherish his memory his two sons, Antwon and LaRenzo Marshall; his sisters, Rosie B. Wakefield and Arlene J. Marshall; his brother, Norman I. Holcomb, Jr.; his grandchildren, LaRenzo Marshall, Jr., Mahalale Wright, Ja’Den Marshall, Emiliana Espinosa, and William Compo; along with a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, Godson, Goddaughter, and friends across the United States.
Robert was a fun-loving man who cherished his family above all else. He enjoyed spending time with his fraternity brothers and lifelong friends. He especially loved a good home-cooked meal shared with those he cared for. Robert lived a life marked by service, integrity, and generosity. His legacy of love, dedication, and community impact will continue to live on through all who knew and loved him.
