Dearest Joann,
Sending our love and blessings to you.  Don was always the one person that treated everyone as equals.  He never looked down on anyone.  He was a great human being!  So sorry to hear of the loss of such a great guy!  Joe and I will miss him so much.  I had been asking around if anyone had seen you and Don lately and nobody knew anything.  I was told tonight by a woman that was a customer at the store and she works in childcare on the base.  I can't remember her name.  I was in total shock to say the least.  Love and miss you Don .. I know you are amongst the many angels up there.  RIP..

So very sad to learn of Don's passing.  It seems like yesterday, that Don and I were young teenagers in Misawa, Japan (1961).  Even though we met up in Las Vegas at a Misawa HS reunion, Don will always remain 16 years to me.....happy, carefree, full of life and fun. He was a very, very nice person.  Don's family is in my prayers. Karen King, Austin, Texas.

I met Don at Narimasu High School in Tokyo.  He was a year behind my class, but our school was so small that everyone knew just about everyone, especially someone as friendly and active as Don.  I will never forget his kindness at the NHS reunion in Dallas in 1979.  He was a terrific person.  You were fortunate to have had him in your life for so long.  I send my deepest sympathy for the loss of your husband, friend, playmate and love.

So sorry for your loss.  I went to high school with Don but hadn't seen him since until last May.  So glad we had the opportunity to get together again.  My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

I am so very sad to hear of Don's passing.  I met him through our military "brat" connection. We both attended the same school in Japan about 10 years apart but as the internet made it possible to reconnect us brats, I so enjoyed getting to know him.  As he was involved with another alumni association group in Japan, he was most helpful to me in our early days in the late 90's.  The thing that always stuck out more than anything else was the smile in his eyes.  He was always smiling and any time I made it to Vegas for our reunions, he always made an appearance.  He was such a caring and giving man and he will be missed by all who loved and cared about him and those in the community who benefited from his strength and wisdom.  Prayers for your family and friends.  RIP

In knowing Don McKay is like a flower in bloom. Don was a loving father, husband, dear friend, and a wonderful client. I will always remember your wonderful and beautiful smile.  RIP.  Love you always.

LTC Robert "Don" McKay, U.S. Army (ret.) -  that should say enough! He was one of the one tenth of one percent that heard his country call through war and peace! More importantly to me personally, he was a great friend to me and my family, and he was everything I could ask for as a military comrade - God, country, duty, honor and family was his entire focus. Here's to an amazing man who lit up every place he went.  He was a role model and my supervisor at the Salvation Army.  Don was an "Old Army Ranger" and wanted things done by the book.  He was disciplined and taught me to be a professional, dress like one, be on time, have my paperwork in order and know my clients.  On top of that was Don's sense of humor.  In this regard he was untouchable. This was the glue that held it all together.  Don would string jokes together till I couldn't laugh anymore.
