U.S. Army, Retired Robert Jerome Thomas, 76, of Las Vegas, passed away Feb. 9, 2011. He retired from the U.S. Army National Guard, served during the Vietnam War and was a retired supervisor for the New York City Transit Authority. Robert served as a deacon, soloist, helper to the less fortunate and assistant choir director of Progressive Pilgrims Fellowship Church. He was the founder, owner and operator of N.Y. Style Pest Control in Las Vegas. Robert was the district director of S.C.O.R.E. and counselor and mentor to aspiring business owners.
He leaves to mourn his loving wife and business partner of 56 years, Zyra; two daughters, Danya D. Thomas and Gina F. Thomas; one son, Rodney Pena; and many loving family members, students and friends.
Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, at Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 18, at Progressive Pilgrims Fellowship, 3375 S. Mojave. Graveside services will follow at noon, at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Buchanan Blvd. in Boulder City.
