

Rod Davis, Sr., 74, retired entrepreneur in the tire industry passed away on September 30, 2013 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was born on December 30, 1938 in Birmingham, Alabama. After 20 years of serving in many capacities in the tire industry including store supervisor for Bridgestone/Firestone, and General Manager for Parnelli Jones Firestone, Rod decided to step out on faith and established Rod Davis Bridgestone/Firestone in 1982. The business grew to 22 employees and 3 retail locations in Los Angeles, Culver City and Inglewood, California. The Los Angeles location was destroyed in the 1992 riots. That location was rebuilt and relocated to Westchester, 7 miles from the previous location. After 10 years of being a successful entrepreneur, Rod retired with his wifein theLas Vegas Valley to play golf, and had been a resident of Las Vegas, Nevada for 13 years. Rod is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Lola Davis; son, Rod Davis, Jr.; mother, Ida Mae Davis; sister, Betty Davis; brothers, Dr. Forrest (Linda) Davis andRobert (Lera) Davis; and son-in-law, John Ballinger. A visitation will be held on Monday, October 7th from 9:00am to 10:45am and the funeral to begin at 11:00am at First African Methodist Episcopal Church, 2450 Revere Street, North Las Vegas, NV 89030. The internment will be at the Inglewood Park Cemetery, Inglewood, California.
