Born in Bismarck, ND in 1937 to Hazel and Claude Christensen, Roger grew up in Columbia Falls, Montana. In high school he participated in multiple sports and enjoyed the many outdoor activities offered living at the foothills of Glacier National Park. He attended college at the Butte School of Mines and graduated from Montana State. In 1963 he married Judy Patton in Great Falls, MT, and they welcomed 5 children into their lives. When the youngest was 6 months old the family moved to the island of Bougainville, Papua New Guinea for six years and then Saudi Arabia for two. His overseas assignments would take him all over the world and even on two Concorde flights to Europe.
While the couple divorced, they remained friends. Roger would marry Netty (Gultom) and after assignments in Africa, Australia, and South America they retired to Las Vegas.
This proved to be a great meet up place for his kids and grandchildren. He also loved visiting the family during summer get-togethers in Montana. Roger took great pride in the arrival of his great-grandchildren and following their lives.
Roger was an avid hiker. His jobs afforded him opportunity to explore Nepal and Chile, as well as the outback of Australia and the big game ranges in South Africa. Even in Las Vegas he took a great liking to the deserts and Red Rock Canyon.
His last days were cherished as he made contact with everyone and was in the great care of his wife Netty, her daughter Yola and granddaughter Ashley. His other survivors include his sister Janice (Charles) Sommers; sons Brian (Lisa), Scott (Jamie), and Eric (Michelle) and daughters Bonnie (Rusty) and Karen (Erik). Grandchildren Megan, Mark, Katie, Marissa, Abbie, Greta, Saylor, Tucker, Seychelle, Sonja, and Kennedy. And Great-Grandchildren Connor, Sydnee, Ruby, Rhett, Max, Liesl, and Aubrey; and Netty's sons Bobby and Jackson.
The family will have a memorial in Montana and his remains will be buried in Bali, Indonesia.
