Romulo "Molly" Legaspi

Romulo ("Romy", "Molly") Legaspi, 74, a long time resident of the Las Vegas area, passed away on September 3, 2013 at the Desert Springs Hospital Medical Center after succumbing to multiple post surgery issues. He was born May 7, 1939 in San Jacinto, Pangasinan province, Philippines to Pedro and Felicidad Legaspi. He immigrated to Toronto, Canada in 1967 and subsequently to Kansas City, Missouri where he was married in 1970. Romulo attended nursing school in the Philippines but was employed in a wide variety of workplaces in the Philippines and in North America over the years. Among the interesting positions he held were insurance agent, hospital porter, casino change attendant, card dealer, room service attendant and machinist. Romulo was very devoted to his faith and was a participating member of the Couples for Christ Catholic prayer group in both Toronto and Las Vegas. He enjoyed travelling and took many road trips to visit friends and family while living in Las Vegas and also in Toronto. He enjoyed socializing and was well known for his corny jokes, aka the infamous Legaspi sense of humor. He always seemed to have a funny story to tell. He is probably best known for his amateur Elvis impersonation, where he would don his Elvis costume and sunglasses and perform a special song for friends and family. He is survived by his children: Jennifer Legaspi, Mary Bernadette Mariano and Christian Legaspi, children of Victoria Legaspi; by his siblings, Arsenio Legaspi, Pedro Legaspi Jr. (deceased), Fely Legaspi and Dina Barrera; and by his grandchildren, Adam Mandell, Cody Mariano, Dylan Mariano, Kai Bustemante, Brandon Legaspi and Jayden Legaspi. Visitation will be held at 3.00p on Sunday, September 9th at the Palm Northwest Mortuary & Cemetary, 6701 North Jones Blvd, Las Vegas. Funeral mass will be held at 11.00a on Monday, September 10th at Christ the King Catholic Community Church, 4925 S. Torrey Pines Dr, Las Vegas.
