OBITUARY Ronald Alden Beatty, at the age of 72, died on Sunday, December 11, 2016 after a long battle with cancer at his home in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren at the time of his passing. Ron will be laid to rest at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, Nevada He was preceded by two older brothers Robert Beatty and Richard Beatty. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Kathleen (Murphy) Beatty, his older sister Joyce (Beatty) Ballard, his three children: Carolyn Lozano (and Frank), Matthew Beatty (and Rachael), and Erin Lopez (and Carlos), eight grandchildren: Daniel Knott, Meagan Juarez, Samantha Juarez, Trey Juarez, Gunther Beatty, Jordan Lozano, Gwendallyn Beatty, and Veronica Lozano, and four great-grandchildren: Tyler Tuttle, Brayden Knott, Hunter Sticka, and Colton Sticka. Ron was born to Ronald and Hazel Beatty on December 21, 1943, in San Francisco, California. He married his neighborhood sweetheart, Kathleen Murphy, upon returning from boot camp of the United States Navy, San Diego, in 1962. He was permanently retired due to medical disability after having most of his right lung removed due to pneumonia. Ron Beatty raised his family in Alameda, California, where he finished his professional career as an insurance broker. While in Alameda, Ron became an avid student of Danzan Ryu Jujitsu and was an assistant instructor at Alameda High School. He achieved the rank of Yodan, black belt fourth degree, and received many awards for his service. After moving to Las Vegas, Nevada, in 2000, he turned to church service at Good Samaritan Lutheran Church. Initially, by developing a motor coordination skill program with his wife Kathy for the elementary students at New Hope Christian Academy. He then turned to supporting the congregation as their Congregational Advocate for Thrivent Financial Services, insurance adviser, and youth service coordinator. "Ron has requested that no flowers be offered. In lieu of flowers, he would request donations be made to the Clayton Bronson Memorial Scholarship Fund. Checks should be made out to Good Samaritan Lutheran Church with a memo referring to the Clayton Bronson Memorial Scholarship Fund and mailed to the church at 8425 West Windmill Las Vegas, Nevada 89113, 702-873-3589." A celebration of his life is scheduled to be held at Good Samaritan Lutheran Church in February for family and friends.
