She was born to Francisco Vargas and Gabriela Ayala on August 30, 1949 in a small town in Durango, Mexico. She married Humberto Talamantes May 22, 1968. They were married 54 years. They welcomed their first born Sonia, then came Leticia, Mirna quickly followed. Rocio was their fourth but not their last as her husband truly desired a son. It was their fifth when Rosa bore the long awaited son and they named him Junior. God gifted her 16 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren which she adored.
As a kid she taught herself to sew. She often said that she wanted to dress well and making her own outfits was the only way to achieve it. As years passed she took on the task and sewed many special pieces for her daughters and granddaughters. Raising a large family was a task in itself and as times got tough she managed to create thee most delicious meals from anything she’s find in the fridge. Nana’s tortillas de harina, enchiladas, frijoles and ohh those unforgettable tamales. Her “vengase a comer” is no more but has left her family an everlasting and endearing memory of her kind soul.
For years she attended “La Iglesia de Dios” in North Las Vegas. Her home away from home. She found in God the strength and tenacity to push through life’s most difficult moments. She feared nothing because she knew God was standing right beside her. In her last days told her her family that she was ready, ready to meet her creator.
She was loved and adored by many and will forever be remembered as an example of self sacrifice.
