Rose was born on April 19, 1940 in Central Falls, Rhode Island to Joseph and Yvonne Lourenco. She was the youngest daughter of fourteen children. Rose spent her early years in Rhode Island where she met the Love of her life, Joseph Lathan. Joe and Rose were married in August of 1958 and moved to Las Vegas in 1959. Together, they adopted and raised four children, sons Joseph and Michael, and daughters Kimberly and Jeanine.
Rose was a kind and gentle soul who loved Jesus and her family. After moving to Las Vegas, Rose worked as a change person for Corral Coin and Jackpot Enterprises for many years. She enjoyed making people smile and taking care of them. In retirement she cherished spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was always doting over them and shared in their love of ice cream and other sugary snacks. Rose was a dog lover and treated her pets like they were her children. She adopted several senior dogs from the local shelter so they could spend their last years happy and not alone. Rose enjoyed vacationing at the beach in Laguna, California. It was one of her favorite things to do. She loved the ocean, fresh seafood and of course the shopping. Above all, Rose loved her husband, Joe. From that first wink as he skated by at Rick’s Roller Rink in Rhode Island, through 62 years of marriage, their love for each other never wavered. Rose was the heart of her family. Her beautiful smile, her playful personality and her warm embrace will be missed.
She is survived by her children, Michael, Kimberly and Jeanine, her grandchildren Hayley, Zachary, Austin and Francesca, her great-grandchildren Kennedy, James and Cameron, her brother Norman and her sister Edna.
Rose was preceded in death by her husband Joseph, her son Joseph, her parents Joseph and Yvonne, her brothers, Infant Raymond, Joseph, Raymond, Armand and Roland, and her sisters Jeannette, Helen, Doris, Yvonne, Lucille and Claire.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 19th at Palm Downtown Mortuary on Main Street at 10:00 a.m. with the gravesite committal to follow at 11:00 am.
