She married the one and only man she loved on September 24, 1955, to William Pierro (deceased). They were married for 50 years. They raised their 3 children in Buffalo: Bill (deceased), Cheryl (deceased) and Joe. Rose and Bill moved to Las Vegas in 1981. She is survived by her son Joe and his wife Rhonda; Grandchildren: Mia (husband Kyle), Joey (wife Christine) Billy, Dez and Renea; Great grandchildren: Giovanni, Angelo, Stefano, Genevieve and Lukas; Siblings: Vinny Purpura (Jan) (deceased), Amelia Bennett (Roger), Diane Nunez (Haines/Roberto), Linda Seegar (Alan); Nieces and Nephews: Godchild Roger (Alma), Haines (Jill), Mike (Carolyn), Kim (Jeff), Vinny (deceased); Deceased parents: Josephine and Agostino Purpura.
Rose worked as a crossing guard in Buffalo as well as retail bakeries. Upon moving to Vegas, she also worked for Freeds Bakery, Rancho bakery and Vons Bakery dept. But she is most remembered as the hostess with a Big smile, at the Market Grille Cafe that her son and daughter in law founded. She worked at the restaurant for the past 20 years. She loved to go to work, calling it her therapy. She was loved by many and often came home with stories of customers and employees. She worked up until the week before she passed away.
Mom was very much a family person. She was always included with any family events/gatherings and she always looked forward to our “party of 12 family dinner-get together” at Joe and Rhonda’s. We made this our Italian-Greek tradition and it continues to carry on every Sunday.
Rose, aka..Mom, Nonnie, Ro, Momma Rose, Nonnie Lucia, Pretty Lady, Miss Rose, and still referred as Baby Rose by many cousins. She will always be in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. We will forever miss Mom (Nonnie) but grateful that she is free of pain. Mom and Dad had a beautiful love, but she was lost without my Dad and looked forward to the day they would be reunited. She was called to be with our Lord Jesus Christ, the day before the 20 year anniversary of my Dad’s death.
May you rest in eternal peace and it brings us comfort knowing you are with Dad, Billy, Cheryl, Grandma, Grandpa and Uncle Vinny.
Viewing, services and reception will be held at Palm Mortuary, (6701 N. Jones Blvd. 89131) on Sunday 6/28/26 starting at 10 am.
She will be put to her final rest at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Monday 7/6/26 @ 1:15 pm, (1900 Memorial Dr, Boulder City, 89005).
