ROSEMARY PISANI Rosemary (nee Mikulich) Pisani entered into eternal life surrounded by her children Aug. 22, 2015, following a valiant battle with metastatic cancer. Rosemary was born Jan 24, 1930, in Las Vegas, to Slava and Sam Mikulich, both original Croatian pioneers of the Valley and owners of the first Las Vegas Cafe on Fremont St. She attended Las Vegas Grammar School until the seventh grade. In 1947, she completed primary and secondary education at Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy, an all-girls boarding school run by the Dominican Sisters in La Canada, Calif.. Rosemary then attended Mount St. Mary's College, obtaining a bachelor of biological sciences degree. In 1950, she enrolled at the Jesuit University of San Francisco to obtain her teaching certificate. It was there that she met her "one and only," Louis "Lou" Pisani. They were married Aug. 8, 1952 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and would later welcome four children. Rosemary loved to teach, first working at Sunrise Acres and St. Anne's Catholic School before starting her own family, followed by several years of teaching at Our Lady of Las Vegas Catholic School once her children were grown. Additionally, together with her siblings, a 13-year partnership was formed to own and operate the Ambassador Motel and the Ambassador East Best Western located on Fremont St. Previously, in 1953, her parents opened, operated and managed the Ambassador Motel. In 1959, Rosemary and her, husband, Lou, were one of the founding parish families of Our Lady of Las Vegas Catholic Church. She had a lifelong devotion to her faith and especially to Mother Mary. Rosemary was very active in her parish community as a member of the Altar Society, a Girl Scout leader and as a lifelong member of the Catholic Daughters of America. Rosemary was an avid gardener, swimmer and traveler. Some of her fondest memories were of her travels with family all over the United States, to Mexico, and to over 16 European countries. She was a talented hostess and loved to throw beautiful holiday and family celebrations. Most importantly, she was overall a woman devoted to faith and family, a loving and supportive mother and grandmother. Rosemary is survived by her husband, Lou; children, Veronica Morton (Charles), Lyndalou Bullard (Bryan), Juliana and Sam; 14 grandchildren, Rosemary, Charles, Patricia, Peter, Samantha, Liliana, Joseph, Petra, Blaise, Lauren, Louis, Caroline, Dominyck and Michael; and six great-grandchildren, Victoria, Philip, Luke, TJ, Audrey, and Ethan. Visitation will be 6-7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, with Rosary following, both at Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, at Our Lady of Las Vegas Catholic Church, 3050 Alta Drive. The family asks that donations be made in Rosemary's name to the American Cancer Society .
