

We are deeply saddened to announce that Roy G. Black has passed on Dec 18th, 2025. He died peacefully in his sleep at his home in Las Vegas, Nevada, surrounded by family, after having the blessing of meeting his great granddaughter.
Born on July 27, 1940 in Todd, Pennsylvania, Roy Black was a loving, devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, son, brother, and uncle. Roy grew up in Huntington County, Pennsylvania with 9 siblings. At Robertsdale High School, Roy was a football star and played the drums. He was in a polka band called Polka Peers.
Roy was proud of his fulfilling career serving his country. He moved to Nevada with the CIA under an assumed name in 1961 after serving in the US Army. He worked his entire career for the federal government, including for the Army, the CIA, Department of Defense, and Air Force.
Roy always made time for his family and put his family above all else. Roy married his wife, Elizabeth on May 27, 1967 at Griffith United Methodist Church, in Las Vegas. He was very devoted and took care of his wife for many years after she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Roy and Liz blessed their 3 children with great summers going on camping road trips across our great country visiting many national and state parks, as well as driving to visit family and friends spread out across the country. Roy was very supportive of his children’s pursuits, including being very involved in the Boy Scouts with Bill.
He is survived by Elizabeth Black, his loving wife of 58 years, his three children, Kelly Groenlykke and her husband Hans, Karen Black-Passmore and her husband David, and William Black and his partner Kevin, his four grandchildren, Claudia, Audrey, Daviren and Wyatt, his two dogs, Jack & Otis, and his beautiful one year old great granddaughter, Saylor Rose.
Roy was known for being a devoted, loving family man. He will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all that knew him.
