

Russell Vero Aiken, 87, was born December 31, 1925, to Vero and Iva Aiken in Spring City, Utah. He was the oldest of three children. He grew up in Spring City, Utah. He served in the Navy during World War II. He received his bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University. He married Colleen Jeffries on August 26, 1950. They were later sealed in the Manti Temple. They were the parents of three children, as well as an “adopted” daughter. Russell was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He taught High School Math, Chemistry and Physics. He moved on to be a plant manager for Aiken Builder’s Products and later for WMK. He held many church callings and especially loved his callings of Ward Missionary and teaching Sunday School. Russell also loved working in the LDS Las Vegas Temple. His loving wife, Colleen, preceded him in death. He is survived by his four children, Yvonne (Kerry) Mickelson, Paul (Donna) Aiken, Wayne (Janet) Aiken and Yvonne (Darrin) Houston; 14 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, with one on the way. Russell is also survived by his brother, Ross Aiken and sister, Yvonne Howell. Viewing will be 4:00-7:00 pm, Wednesday, January 30, at Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. There will be an additional viewing 9:00-9:30 am, Thursday, January 31 with services following, both at the LDS Church, 5800 Carl Ave. (Carl and Saylor Way). The internment will follow at noon at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Buchanan Blvd., in Boulder City.
