Sam Curtis Dunlap
December 18, 1957 – August 6, 2019
Mr. Sam Curtis Dunlap, son of the late Harry Dunlap Sr. and Ella Dunlap was born December 18, 1957 in Ouachita Parish, Louisiana. He attended the public schools of Madison Parish and was a graduate of Reuben McCall Senior High located Tallulah, Louisiana. Sam was known for his athleticism and was All American in baseball. Upon graduating high school in 1975, he was accepted to Grambling State University. After completing a semester at Grambling State University, he transferred to Paul Quinn College and soon after discovered his love for Culinary Arts. Sam moved to Las Vegas, Nevada and was known for being the “Best Cook”. Sam worked as a Cook for Showboat Hotel and Casino for over 20 years, the Stardust Hotel and Casino before transitioning to the Nevada Test Site which he began in December 2004.
He was united in holy matrimony to Valerie T. Wells in August of 1982. This union was blessed with one child where they welcomed Sambrina Dunlap into this world on December 8, 1985. After sixteen years of marriage, the marriage ended in divorce. He later found his companion, Patricia Anderson who he shared many hobbies, created precious memories and enjoyed life together.
Sam Dunlap was preceded in his death: by his father Harry Dunlap Sr. His mother Ella Dunlap, Harry Dunlap Jr. Addie Bea Harris, Ardelia Watkins, Frank Dunlap Sr., Norman Dunlap, Larry Dunlap. His beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of his one and only child: Sambrina Dunlap (Brandon Johnson Sr.) of Houston, Texas, one grandchild Brandon Johnson Jr., His longtime companion of 20 years, Patricia Anderson. Stepson, Larry Wells Sr. (Kriss), Five sisters: Marjorie Meredith (David) of Shreveport, La., Wanda Dunlap, Sarah Dunlap, Veronica Dunlap McCurdy (Bob Jr.) of Austin, Texas and Shirley Hardy of Fort Worth, Texas. Two brothers: Donald Dunlap (Lisa)Shreveport, La., Burl Dunlap (Debbie) of Las Vegas, Nevada. Two Sister-in-Laws, Gladys Dunlap of Houston, Texas, Ardenia Dunlap of Tallulah, La; a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
