Sandra Anne Cowin

Sandra “Sandy” Benedict Cowin passed away Friday, May 3, 2013, after a six month battle with cancer. Sandy was born October 24, 1944 to Lorenzo and Oliva Grilliette in Galveston, Texas. She went to school at the Ursuline Academy in Galveston, then moved to Las Vegas with her family in the late 1950’s. She attended Bishop Gorman High School, finishing school at St. Mary’s in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1962. Sandy married Charles “Chuck” Benedict in 1962 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Las Vegas. Later in life, Sandy married Tom Cowin, October 12, 1996 in Las Vegas. She started working in 1981 at Palace Station Casino, working her way up to Vice President of Corporate Purchasing for Station Casinos. Sandra is preceded in death by her parents, Lorenzo and Oliva. She is survived by her husband Tom Cowin; brother Lorenzo Grilliette; daughter Olivia Del Frago and Deanna (Roger) Faselt; six grandchildren, Lauren and Dominic Del Frago, Olivia and Siena Faselt, and Bryce and Tommy Cowin; many cousins, nieces and nephews. A rosary service is scheduled for Thursday, May 9, 2013 at 6pm; funeral mass on Friday, May 10, 2013 at 10:00am, all at Christ The King Catholic Community Church, 4925 S. Torrey Pines Drive. A private burial will follow. We would like to thank the Nathan Adelson Hospice doctors, nurses and staff for the love and compassionate care.
