Santo Charles Daverso

Born in Chicago, IL in 1917 and at an early age moved to and was reared on a small farm outside Houston, Texas. His early adult formative years were spent with the extended Nuche family in Bryan, Texas. He married Doris Borden 1941. They owned and operated small grocery stores until joining the Army Air Corp at the start of WWII. His military service included duty in post-war England, Hawaii and various locations throughout the western US, concluding at Nellis AFB and Indian Springs Air Force Auxiliary Field, Nevada. After serving his country, he established a permanent residence in Las Vegas and continued to support his growing family of two sons and a daughter as a bellman on the Las Vegas Strip. His favorite activities were bowling and traveling in his RV. His homemade Italian sausage became famous, remains his legacy, and his tradition is carried on by his family. Also, many hours were spent in his workshop producing finely crafted clocks and plaques for family and his many friends. He was active in several community service organizations including the Elks, VFW, and Good Sam RV club. He served as an active member of St. Christopher’s Catholic Church. His wife, Doris, preceded him in death in 1999. In his continued travels he met Ruby Cabral and later they were married in 2001. Ruby was his angel. They loved and cared for one another until he was called to fill a space in God’s garden. Survivors include his wife Ruby, his sons Gary Daverso and David Daverso, and his daughter Shirley Daverso; his brothers Buddy Danna and Tony Danna; grandchildren Robin Daverso, Rebecca Daverso, and Tony Daverso; great-grandchild Zahraa Daverso Raven.

Public visitation 3:00 PM Wednesday 10 April at Palm Mortuary Las Vegas; Funeral mass celebrated at St Christopher’s Catholic Church in North Las Vegas at 1:00 PM Thursday 11 April.
