Scott Vincent Morelli, age 69 of Las Vegas Nevada, joined our heavenly father on May 2nd, 2022. He was born in Bremerton Washington on March 11th, 1953 to the late Ethel and George. Scott left this world surrounded by his children, family, and friends.
Scott spent his early years in West Seattle where he excelled at sports like basketball and football. He adored his late uncle Lyle who introduced him to soul music and taught him how to dance. He started his career in the family business at Seattle Disposal, working on garbage trucks at the age of 14. At 17 he moved to Parkersburg, West Virginia working for his Uncle Matt and his father George's company, MGM Disposal.
Scott was a child of the late '60s and his ideals of the civil rights struggle for black Americans carried with him his entire life. He believed in the words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. "Injustice anywhere is a threat to Justice everywhere." Scott spent his early twenties back in Seattle where he was the proprietor of the All in the family Bar and tavern in downtown Seattle. In May of 1978, his life changed and so did the lives of his closest family and friends. Scott was paralyzed after a gunshot wound which began the next chapter of his life as a paraplegic.
He spent his remaining years in sunny Las Vegas breeding show dogs and was a respected member of the German Shepherd AKC club. Scott took care of a succession of stray cats, desert tortoise, rabbits and birds and his late beloved pets Betty Boop, Daisy Mae and Sushi. Scott loved watching sports, in particular boxing and football. He was a huge Seattle Seahawks fan. He loved his grandchildren, making new friends, and going to auctions.
Scott dealt with his demise on his own terms and fought until he couldn't fight any more. He was tough right until the end and will be profoundly missed.
The funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 26th, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Las Vegas Catholic Church. Scott is survived by his children Mechelle, Gina and Santino Morelli, granddaughters Meshaliah Brooks and Jade Combs, great-grandson's Marcell and Nhymir Alexander.
