Selma Knauss, 92, of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away peacefully at her home on February 27, 2018. Selma is preceded in death by her husband Charles, her parents, Ludwig and Elizabeth, and eight of her siblings.
Selma was born September 23, 1925 in Saskatchewan, Canada. She grew up on a dairy farm with nine sisters and one brother. After earning her nursing degree in 1950 she set off on a grand adventure, driving across the US with her best girl friend Mack, to accept a nursing position in Caliente, Nevada. There she met the love of her life, Charles Knauss. They married in 1952, had two sons and moved to Las Vegas in 1959 where Charles became a partner in Palm Mortuary.
Selma was a devoted wife and mother. She and Charles danced into the night every Friday at the Elks Lodge. They traveled the world together. They made friends wherever they went. In 1980 they built a home in Jackson, WY, where Selma loved her garden and fishing on Jackson Lake.
Selma was a wonderful grandmother and was happiest spending time with her family, all of whom gathered to celebrate her 90th birthday.
She was an amazing, loving woman who often said “boy what a life I’ve led”! She was grateful and good natured to the end, growing old with dignity and grace.
Selma is survived by her sons, Max (Claudia), and Kenny (Tracy); her grandchildren, Stephen, Kristin (Travis), Nikki (Eddie), Ryan (Kalli), Courtney (Brad) and her great grandchildren, Sydney, Parker, Reagan, Cullen and Caitlin; her twin sister, Sara and younger sister Dora.
