Severino B Avila Jr.

Severino was born on November 11, 1937 in Manila, Philippines to Severino Avila Sr. and Florentina Baldonado who are both deceased. He earned a bachelor’s of science degree in commerce from Far Eastern University in Manila, Philippines.

In the early 1960s, Severino left his native Philippines in search of a new life in the United States. Shortly after his arrival he was drafted by the U.S. Army, where he served from October 9, 1962 until he was discharged on October 9, 1964. Severino met Morfa Javier Avila in the U.S. The couple married on October 23, 1963. She preceded him in death on August 12, 2015.

Severino worked in many professions but is best known for his time working as an accountant for both small independent firms and for automotive giant General Motors, where he spent a majority of his professional life until his retirement in the early 1990s. Severino lived in several states before eventually settling in Saginaw, Michigan in the mid-1960s, where he resided along with his family until relocating to Las Vegas shortly after his retirement from GM. Severino had two sons who were both born in Saginaw, Michigan.

His eldest son is Severin P. Avila and his youngest son is Lawrence. In retirement, Severino and Morfa traveled extensively, visiting many countries in Europe as well as exploring numerous states. Through the years, Severino took up an assortment of hobbies including carpentry, landscaping and home remodeling. He also enjoyed playing mahjong with friends and patronizing casinos in Las Vegas.

Severino is survived by his sons, Severin and Lawrence; brothers, Nestor (Cora), Archibald (Heidi), Cyril, Flor, and Gil; sisters Luzviminda Benitez (Victor) and Zenaida (Angel) Bonifacio, and sister-in-law, Lucy Avila, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Renato and a sister, Gloria and her husband, Terry; and two sisters-in-law, Nita and Eva. Your family will forever love you and keep your memory alive.
