Sharon Joyner, age 80, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2026. She was a loving, affectionate, and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Sharon was deeply treasured by many, especially her family, who were the pride and joy of her life. She took great delight in spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and cherished every moment spent with them.
Sharon was born and raised in New Haven, Connecticut, but spent most of her life in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was married to Russell Lamar Joyner for over 20 years, and together they raised three children.
Early in her career, Sharon worked in room reservations at The Dunes Hotel and Casino until 1993. She later worked as an Office Assistant II for the Clark County School District. Her final role was as a Program Supervisor for the City of North Las Vegas in the Safekey program. Sharon was known for her dedication, integrity, and her ability to build strong relationships with students, parents, and coworkers. She had an incredible work ethic and continued working until the age of 75, as it gave her purpose each morning and kept her active and engaged with those around her. Wherever she worked, Sharon touched the hearts of others with her warm smile, generosity, and genuine kindness.
Sharon loved traveling to all-inclusive resorts where she could relax and enjoy the sunshine, sand, and ocean. She was also a devoted dog lover and adored her pets—Chip, Sammy, and Annie.
Sharon was young at heart, with a joyful spirit and energy that made it hard for anyone to guess her age. To her friends, she was loyal and compassionate—always ready to lend a listening ear, offer thoughtful advice, and give a warm hug. Above all, she was a steady, strong, and faithful mother whose love and devotion to her family will always be remembered.
Sharon is survived by her three children, Staci (Wil), Justin (Dora), and Russell Jr. (Kierin); her seven grandchildren, Lauren (Cesar), Jared (Alexa), Justin, Savannah, Mia, William, and Ethan; and her six great-grandchildren, Ronan, Killian, Jeriah, Azaliah, Bethany, and Shea.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.
