Susan was born on May 10, 1938, in Kansas City, Missouri. She was the daughter of the late Sam and Rose Krashine. Susan grew up and attended schools in Kansas City, Coffeyville Kansas, and Tulsa Oklahoma where she received her bachelor's degree from the University of Tulsa in 1961. Shortly after, she accepted her first teaching position at a high school in Kansas City (Raytown) Missouri.
Susan married Harold Gerecht in Tulsa, Oklahoma on June 9, 1963. They relocated to St. Louis Missouri, where both their daughters were born. The family relocated out West in 1973 when Harold was transferred in his job, settling in Southern Nevada. Susan continued teaching until 1980. Then, the dynamic duo attained their real-estate broker’s licenses and opened up Sunshine Realty, practicing real estate for nearly 30 years.
Her interests included playing the piano, singing, swimming, water skiing, playing tennis and traveling with her husband, family, and friends. She also enjoyed women's clubs and social activities at the Anthem Recreation Center, but her undeniable passion was for her family. She loved hearing about their day and having everyone together. She will be dearly missed along with her love, spirit and presence.
She is survived by her husband, Harold, her two children Marla (Randy) Hockfeld, Las Vegas, NV and Sharon (John) OBerto, Boulder City, NV three grandchildren, Melissa OBerto, Rachel Hockfeld, and Samuel OBerto; and a host of friends The family expresses their deepest gratitude to Susan's compassionate and kind caregivers: Felicia Sexton and Janice Mandell for the love and exceptional care given to Susan during her final journey.
