

Thelma Louise “Dad-Dee” Young was a woman of God who enjoyed serving the Lord with her talents from her birth on September 22, 1939 until her passing on December 6, 2012. She was the daughter of late Norris Young, Sr., and Thelma Morrison Young; sister of Hazel, Johnny, Lillian, Anna Rose, Jean, Clara, Norris, Jr., Mildred, Cora, and Daniel; mother of Marsha and Winifred; grandmother of Stephan, Thelma, Re’ko, Brent, Travis Lee, Travis Jireh, Tyrean, Steve, and Dykia; godmother of Jarrod, Michael, Travis, Monique, Michael, and Jada; and a trusted friend to many other family members and friends.
Prior to receiving her BA degree, she was educated in New Orleans and Jefferson Parishes. Thelma received her Bachelor of Art degree in Religion from the Christian Bible College. She was an entrepreneur of an in-home daycare, and a certified foster parent. For many years, she was employed with the Orleans Parish School Board and Bio Chemical Medical Laboratory. She was a long time faithful member of Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Kenner, Louisiana. Thelma was President of the senior usher board, a summer camp instructor of the preschoolers, a driver of the church van, a member of the church mission, prayer band, hour of power, bible class, and one of the pastor’s aide. She also assisted with the junior usher board and drill team. In addition, she was a member of the Kennerettes Social and Civic Club. Dad-Dee was very active in her community. Many who love her dearly will miss her.
