Tek was born on May 14, 1944, to Francis and Elnora Ek of Rockford, IL. She also had a sister, Margelet “Peggy” Palm all of whom preceded her in death.
Tek married Wayne Hauglie on April 20, 1990, in Rockford, IL. They loved the outdoors and found great joy in spending time at Mayflower Lake, WI and traveling the world together.
Tek retired in 1994 from the Rockford School District, where she enjoyed a long career working in the Administration Office. Alongside her passion for quilting, she loved planting flowers and spending quality time with her family. She had a way of appreciating the simple pleasures in life and creating lasting memories with those she loved.
Tek is survived by her husband, Wayne; her daughters, Amy Garland (Tommy) of Gilbert, AZ; Darcy Ehrlich (Dean) of Las Vegas, NV; Brenda Brock (Steve) of Plainfield, IL; and Rhonda Wenberg of Rockford, IL. She is also survived by several grandchildren; Haley Wenberg, Megan Brock (Matt), Evan Wenberg (Jayllan), Grace Brock, Adam Wenberg, Noah Wenberg, Ella Ehrlich, Bronny Ochoa, Kate Ehrlich, and Maddie Brock; a great-grandson, Brewer Wenberg; nephews, Marty Palm (Sue), Barry Palm; and a niece, Melody Kuczynski (Tom).
In keeping with Tek’s wishes, her ashes will be scattered in various places she loved. Her spirit will live on through the memories shared by her family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Her family will celebrate her life in a private gathering. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Cancer Society.
