

Thomas J. "Tom" Cinque M.D., 81, husband, father, physician and teacher, of Las Vegas, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013. He was born Sept. 25 1932, to Frank and Anna Cinque. Tom excelled in his career in medicine as both physician and professor. He spearheaded advances in kidney dialysis, published extensively in the fields of nephrology and medical ethics, and was responsible for bringing kidney transplantation to the city of Las Vegas. He served as assistant dean of medicine at Michigan State University, associate dean of medicine at the University of Nevada, and dean of medicine at Creighton University Medical School in Omaha, Neb., his alma mater. Tom is survived by his beloved wife, Nellie; daughters, Ann, Gina and Michele; sons, Frank and Thomas Jr.; sister, Louise; and seven grandchildren. Visitation will be from 3:30-7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, at Palm Mortuary-Cheyenne, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89129. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 28, at St. Joseph Husband of Mary Catholic Church, 7260 W. Sahara Ave., Las Vegas 89117. Burial will be in Nebraska. The family requests that all gifts and memorials are in the form of donations made to the Thomas J. Cinque Endowed Book Fund at the Health Sciences Library of Creighton University, Omaha.
