After a protracted battle with cancer, ‘Doc’ was resting comfortably at home and was released to go forward with his journey on Wednesday evening, the 2nd of September, 2015. Tom was born on 26 August 1952 in Worcester, MA to mother, Lena O’Dou and father, Jerry O’Dou, who predeceased him. He grew up in a large, Italian family with one sister - Dona, but many aunts, uncles and cousins. In college, he excelled in the sciences receiving his Bachelors degree from Lowell Tech and his Masters from University of Massachusetts at Lowell. He received his Ph.D. in Radiochemistry from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2012. Tom and the love of his life, Dixie, moved to Las Vegas in 1996. They built their version of ‘our own little paradise’ in the NW valley. Tom officially retired two years ago and was enjoying working with Dixie at home. Tom is survived by his mother, Lena, his sister, Dona, his wife, Dixie, and ‘their’ children, Dawn Peroni, Tanya Stull, Jason Beasley, Robin Varljen, and Robert Beasley II. Their ‘gifts’ from these wonderful children include 8 granddaughters, 2 grandsons, 1 great granddaughter, and 5 great grandsons. Tom’s family was the light of his life. Tom also leaves the legacy of an amazing life. He was a student, a teacher, a mentor, a plumber, an accomplished guitarist, an enthusiastic golfer, health physicist, radiochemist, Radiation Safety Officer, ‘MacGyver’, tax pro, and the best friend anyone could ask. A Celebration of Life will be held to honor him and the people who loved him, on Saturday, 5 September at the home of Tracy Janssen. Your “Glowing” smile was contagious and brought warmth to everyone. You will always be with us in beautiful constant brilliance. Thank you Thomas for the Love, Kindness, Patience, Teaching & Learning.
