Life Reflections

Tonja Carlisse Patton was born in Las Vegas, NV on November 14th, 1963 to her parents, Earnest Sr. and Marilyn Patton. As a child, she was focused, and passionate about her goals and graciously family-oriented. Tonja attended high school and college in Montgomery, AL. Upon graduation from Alabama State. Tonja returned to Las Vegas and started her professional career. During her 30-year tenure as an IT professional, she distinguished herself as a leader in Cyber Security. She also received awards as she developed her leadership skills with Toast Masters. Tonja’s community and Christian service impacted many through her work in the area food banks, clothing drives and at the Las Vegas Rescue Mission. Involving her sons in such activities, she became a model of generosity. In 1989, Tonja met Rodney Patton and was joined in holy matrimony in 1993. The beauty of the relationship did not require her to change her last name. Tonja was the loving mother of 3 talented and distinguished sons; of whom she cherished. Her innate instincts instilled loving family values to her sons. Tonja received Christ and was baptized at an early age. She lived her life through Christian values. She was a member of Mountain Top Faith Ministries for over 20 years, actively participating in many ministries including the welcoming committee. Tonja was also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, through which she continued her fellowship and service. She loved her Soros! Tonja was preceded in death by her father and mother. Tonja peacefully went to be home with the Lord on August 28th, 2019 surrounded by the people she loved the most. Tonja is survived by her husband Rodney Patton, Children (3) Rashad, Keenan, and Jamil Patton. Brothers (2) Earnest Patton Jr. (Michelle), Chris Larkin, Sister Vanzetta Davis. Also, a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

I met Tonja at Citibank in the Computer Operation department in late 80's. It was four of us who hung out and participated in weddings , having kids and growing mature . My family moved away but we managed to keep in touch. She and Rodney always treated us to dinner when we visited
You never felt like a stranger among her family and friends. She will be missed.
Rest in peace my friend.

I remember when Tonja first started working at EG&G in Information Technology. I remember when I first met Rodney in the late 1980s. They are both great people to know. To me Tonja was a quiet unassuming person with a great personally, got along well with others, and was a positive influence. Our prayers are with the family and friends.

I am deeply saddened by the loss of my coworker and friend. Tonja made it so easy to be her friend -- always a kind word and softened voice. I don’t think I ever saw that girl mad. She had a heart of gold and such a pleasure to be around. She was a gift to everyone that knew her. We kept in touch after she left work, but never did I think that her health would be so grave. She will always hold a special place in my heart. I miss her!
My heartfelt condolences to Rodney, Rashad, Keenan, Jamil, and all her family. May our Lord surround you and provide you comfort during this time of grief and always. She will never be forgotten. Rest in peace my dear friend.

I am surprised and saddened to hear of Tonja’s passing. We were coworkers in the 90s and became close while she was pregnant for the twins. She has been an inspiration to me throughout the years (also through Toastmasters!) and always was someone to look up to as a coworker and a mother. I loved hearing stories about her experiences raising kids, as well as her love for each of them. My heart goes out to Rodney and the boys, I know you will miss her as well as the rest of us who knew her.

Condolences to all who knew and loved Tonja.

We both got hired into the company at the same time, and we instantly became good friends for many years. I can not say enough great things about Tonja -- she was one of the sweetest work friends I have ever had ! I'm so saddened that she was taking away at such a young age, but GOD definitely must of needed another Angel.

I will always remember what a beautiful soul Tonja was! Much Love to her family.
