Tonya Louise Adams

Tonya was born Tonya Louise Maxey on July 17th, 1968, in Tucker, Georgia. She was the daughter of Elouise and John Maxey. Tonya and her 4 sisters, initially grew up in Decatur, Georgia before relocating to New Rochelle, New York. Tonya would go on to graduate high school at age 16 in 1984. She also received her cosmetology license and often worked as a stylist before pivoting to retail. It was there where she learned the business acumen that she was known for.

Tonya eventually relocated to Indianapolis and worked her through many companies including Cellular One, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, and United Healthcare Inc. She then moved to Pittsburgh, PA and Long Beach, CA working at Highmark Inc and Molina Healthcare Inc respectively and further raised her profile. Tonya ended her long and varied career in Healthcare Operations at Cambia Health Solutions Inc in Portland, Oregon. It was there she became the Chief Operating Officer, her highest role to date.

In her free time, Tonya enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, most notably her daughter, Deanna, and husband, Eric. the smaller things like relaxing at home often watching reruns of Judge Judy or the various action films she and her husband, Eric, enjoyed. Tonya was a huge fan of going to the spa and made it a point to take a full day on her birthday. A day she called “Diva Day.”

A Celebration of Life will be held at Palm Northwest Mortuary, 6701 North Jones Blvd, Las Vegas, Nevada 89131, on May 16, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
