Trudy Jean Durden, 84, a long-time resident of Las Vegas, passed away on November 7, 2025. She was born in Berkeley, California and is one of three children, and is survived by her ‘baby’ brother Robert Huffman. She met her life-long love, Bob, on a blind date with her sister Diane and his best friend Don, during a return home visit from his deployment in Japan. Bob and Trudy were married on September 26, 1959. Trudy was recently widowed in 2023 and never forgot the beautifully created 64 years of their life together. Together they created a life of fun and laughter in their Las Vegas Sun City community and just a short year ago, Trudy decided assisted living would be her new way of keeping busy and staying social.
Trudy was a military wife and stay-home mom for many years while Bob was away on deployment with the United States Navy. They relocated a couple of times during Bob’s 20 years of service, from San Diego to Hawaii and back to California to retire in Milpitas. Once settled in Milpitas, she pursued a career as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and most of her 20 years in the nursing field was spent in Labor and Delivery at San Jose Medical Center in San Jose, CA. This was her favorite place to be and her love of holding babies continued when she and Bob moved to Las Vegas, NV roughly 28 years ago.
Trudy was a Christian, her faith in God was big and she brought her love of the Lord with her from the Milpitas Presbyterian Church to Las Vegas. She attended The Crossing: A Christian Church from day one of their groundbreaking experience to bring His light to the desert. She volunteered in the nursery every Sunday and sometimes during weekday worship or special events. She loved holding those babies, and she developed some amazing friendships and much needed fellowship over the years.
Throughout her life she touched people in different ways, but mainly with her jolly presence, infectious laughter and smile. You probably would catch her mouth open a time or two in a photo also. The joy in her heart and the love for being with the ones she loved made her who she was.
She is survived by her four children, Laurie Ehardt, Tina Limon, Robert Durden and Tracy Baldwin. She was the proud Grandma to 10 grandchildren and the Great Grandma (better known as GG) to 18 great grandchildren and she loved all the games (especially BINGO) with her friends in her assisted environment, 49er football and watching the Vegas Golden Knights.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting your presence at her “friends who knew her" gathering on Saturday, November 29, from 11am-1pm at her granddaughter’s home. Please rsvp with the family.
