

Venetta Olivia Wilson was born October 28, 1941, in Champaign/Urbana Illinois, to the late Preston and Sadie Oneal. She accepted Christ as a young girl and was raised in the Methodist CME Church. She remained a homemaker while her children were young, while being a military wife. Later she worked in the banking industry until she retired. She was the Queen of the Red Hat Divas of Las Vegas for many years.
She met and married Shade Wilson Jr. On October 16th, 1962, they remained in holy matrimony until her husband’s demise on February 8th, 2023. He was a great, devoted husband and father, and she was a spoiled, well-kept loving wife and mother.
On Wednesday July 22nd, 2026, Venetta gained her heavenly wings. She leaves a legacy of memories to be cherishes by her three children, Janeelita Wilson, Alice (Wilson) McCain, and Shade Wilson 3rd, grandchildren Shalaya Wilson, Sharika Wilson, Montell Briggs, Jayana Jenkina, A host of great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. She leaves a special legacy of memories to a group of ladies that she treasured as much as she did her family, the Red Hat Divas of Soul, you all were her reason to keep pushing. Venetta was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, one granddaughter Anjalita Wilson, and one grandson Don Trannell.
