Vern was a good friend of my husband, Ron Pennington who mustered out on 2 June 2020. Ron would talk about Vern often sharing Marine memories. It is my hope the two of them are once again enjoying the good times. My sincerest condolences to Vern's family.

Finally in pace at Southern Nevada Veterans Cemetery.  

So sorry to hear this of his passing.  I worked with Vern 30 some years ago in security at the Las Vegas Hilton. He was a funny guy and friendly. He knew his stuff. May he R.I.P. 

I met Vern while at Metro.  My condolences to Patti a truly very good person.  I was out of state when Vern passed and am deeply affected. He had some hard bark on his exterior but a heart of gold.  The world is a lesser place without him in it.  I will miss him.  So, until we meet again my friend.

I am thank full for the time we served together at MCAS, El Toro and then at MTU, Quantico.  Also the many times we had together while I was visiting you in Las Vegas.  The BIG range in the sky is welcoming another competitor to the roster.

Vern and I were in the rifle and pistol team for the 3rd Marine Air Wing in the 70’s. Heck of a shooter Vern was. Until Valhalla Gyrene. 

I knew Vern through Danny & learned a lot about him. I wish I could have met Vern  but our paths didn’t have time to cross.  



First of all my condolences to Vern's wife Patti and the Zuleger Family.
I am deeply sorry for your loss.


I had the privilege and honor of meeting Vern in the summer of 2008 at LVMPD Range while teaching a Colt class.

I learned quite a bit from Vern and over the years we exchanged new tools and techniques for the M4/1911 platforms.

Vern always had the "Rings of Power" for the class.  A great selection from Master Donut.

We always looked forward to having ribs for dinner every time I went out to teach.

Vern had a circle of people in the Marine Corps that I had  just so happened to work with as well.  All legendary Marines.

I was in Las Vegas three weeks ago  and spent a small amount of time with over several days.
We talked and  he laughed a bit.

On leaving the last day when passed a silent moment and he nodded to me.  
He had that big smile that rarely came out.  

I am a better man for being in his company.
