

Vickie was born on August 13, 1945, to Saul and Hester McCloyn, Jr. in Dermott, Arkansas; her name given at birth was Victoria McCloyn. She was the middle sibling of Joseph McCloyn (deceased February 1968) and her younger sister Gerutha. Vickie accepted Jesus Christ at an early age. She grew up at Paradise B.C., a long time member of Greater Olivet B.C., Friendship B.C. of Yorba Linda and she was a member of Moutaintop Faith Ministries here in Las Vegas, Nevada since 2008.
Vickie attended Los Angeles Unified Schools South Park, Bret Harte and Fremont class of 1963. She was a proud Pathfinder and attended all of the reunions. In July of 1964, Vickie gave birth to Lori Grace. They were inseparable mother and daughter. She went to the 20th class reunion and ran into John A. Abdullah-Hasan. He asked for her number and if he could take her to lunch. She said, “yes” to lunch and “yes” to forever on May 26, 1984 they became husband and wife and maintained an inseparable bond; this is their 40th anniversary year.
Vickie was employed with LAUSD and after a layoff; she vowed to never be in that position again. She took the typing test for the City of Los Angeles and rose to become a Sr. Clerk Typist III in the Los Angeles Police Department (Parker Center). She worked for 39 years and retired in 20001. Vickie and John relocated to Las Vegas in 2005 and have made their home there for nearly 20 years.
Vickie loved family, reading a good book, going to movies, good music by her favorite artists The Temptations, Rod Stewart & The Rolling Stones. She enjoyed a sisterly connection with the Red Hats and Mahogany Divas. She loved taking mother/daughter trips with her sister Gerutha, niece Tara and Lori. She and John traveled through out Spain, Hawaii and the Caribbean and faithfully attended The McCloyn Family Reunions.
Vickie was especially fond of ALL her children. She never said step, adopted or godchildren. N’Diyah (1995) & Ali Abdullah-Hasan(2015) proceeded her in death. Armond Shelly, Ebony Johnson, Rakiyah Bradley, Kevin Givan (Candice) and new baby Camryn, Detra Holloway and Isophine Atkinson, her grandsons, Tyva (2022), J’Diyah, Rumari and Amir.
In this new age of technology, Vickie enjoyed looking at videos of children that made her laugh and she shared her favorite videos often. She is missed and will be missed by all that knew her and loved her.
Vickie leaves to mourn her loving husband John, (N’Diyah & Ali) proceeded in death) her daughter Lori Grace (Esther), Sister, Gerutha Booth (Thomas), nieces Tara, Tyince, Grace, Joy, Janet, Kassidy and nephew Kameron. Uncle and Aunt James C & Gracie McCloyn, Rudy & Helen McCloyn, cousins, Margaret Whitten & Lena Parker, McCloyn & Johnson cousins, best friend for over 50 years Dolly Dowd, The Mahogany Divas of Las Vegas. Her parents Hester & Saul McCloyn, Jr. met her at heavens gates.
A celebration of life for Vickie will be held Thursday, August 29, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Palm Mortuary - Northwest, 6701 North Jones Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89131.
