

Vilma was born on October 18, 1944 at Jalapa Hospital in Guatemala City. Her parents were Maria Duran and Rafael Nonderola. As a young child, Vilma was optimistic in her outlook. She sought out the possibilities in a given situation and looked for ways to apply her creative energies. Vilma rarely calling attention to herself, but when she did speak out, her message was clearly understood by those around her. She was raised with five siblings. She had three brothers, Roberto, Rene, Cheque and two sisters, Berta and Luz. She was a calm and playful child who was adaptable to any situation. On February 25, 1996, Vilma exchanged wedding vows with her life partner Jorge Martinez at the Catholic Church in Los Angeles, CA. Vilma was blessed with two daughters, Glenda and Carolina. She was also blessed with five grandchildren, Melvin, Milton, Tatiana, Alejandra and Lousin. Vilma’s faith was important to her. She was a member in the Catholic Church. Vilma's passionate commitment to upholding her values placed her at home in her religion, where she took comfort in the company of others who believed as she did. Vilma passed away on September 20, 2013 at Heights of Summerlin. She fought a brave battle against cancer. She is survived by her husband, Jorge; daughter, Glenda; grandkids, Melvin, Lousin, Alejandra, Milton, Tatiana, Crystal, Caroline and Melanie. Services were held at Palm Mortuary. Vilma was a good woman, a kind woman, and a practical woman who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being warm and deeply caring. She leaves behind her a treasury of life-long friendships and wonderful memories. Vilma always had much to give and was able to make those connections in her life where her gifts were appreciated. Vilma was a faithful, practical and loving person. Everyone whose life she touched will always remember Vilma Martinez. Arrangements under the direction of Palm Downtown Mortuary, Las Vegas, NV.
