VINCENT HERNANDEZ Jan. 22, 1931 - Sept. 2, 2012 Vincent Hernandez went to meet his Savior Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012, in Las Vegas. We lost a father, brother, uncle, grandpa and a friend. Vince touched so many people in his 81 years. He is a devoted father, grandfather, husband, friend and a soldier of Christ. He devoted his life to his work, 53 years at the Flamingo Hilton resort on the "Fabulous Strip" of Las Vegas, the "Adult Playground of the World!!" Vince raised his six kids; 24 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. Far from the cotton fields of California's San Joaquin valley he made his life in Las Vegas, where he meet his late wife, Lilia Hernandez, fell in love, had his family, walked into the Flamingo in 1953 at the ripe young age of 23, retired in 2006 and never thought of looking back. Vince had autographs from the late Judy Garland, Ray Bolger, Mills Brothers and Pearl Bailey. He also had the sounds of Fats Domino and Bobby Darin while the Flamingo was still under the control of the late Bugsy Siegel. Vincent's stories of the time there were amazing and the Flamingo was always his second family. He loved golfing, baseball, football (Cowboys) and tennis. His faith in Jesus has served him well. He was caring, forgiving and loving - he was amazing! "How great thou art...I'll be seeing you." He was preceded in death by his late wife, Lilia Hernandez; and daughters, Anna Lilia Burnham and Linda Arzola. Vince is survived by his children, Raymond Hernandez, Rosemary Farber, Leticia Scott and Jermane Slykhuis; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins; and most of all friends. Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10, both at Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St.
Arrangements under the direction of Palm Downtown Mortuary, Las Vegas, NV.
