Vineta Wong Wui was born on May 5, 1948, in the village of Fitiuta, Manu’a, to Fauesala Lifa Mamea and Leuta Taua’i Ape. One of nine siblings, she moved to Tutuila as a teenager to attend Samoana High School. After graduation, she pursued nursing school, where her passion for caregiving began to flourish.
In 1968, Vineta married Moemoe Wong-Wui, and together they raised six children. Due to Moe’s service in the U.S. Army, the family traveled extensively across the U.S. and abroad. Wherever they went, Vineta remained deeply connected to her faith, always finding community through the church.
In the 1990s, the family moved to Ft. Lewis, Washington, where Vineta and Moe purchased their first home in Lakewood. During this time, Vineta worked as a caregiver and meal site coordinator for a local nonprofit serving the senior community, particularly Samoan elders. She was passionate about her work, bringing joy to everyone she served. A proud member of the Women’s Group at the First Samoan Congregational Christian Church, Vineta lived her faith through service.
In 2000, after Moe’s retirement, the couple relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada, where they enjoyed a fulfilling life together. Vineta was an extraordinary hostess, known for her love of cooking, baking, and sharing meals with family, friends, and anyone who visited her home. She also enjoyed sewing, gardening, traveling, and, most of all, spending time with her grandchildren.
Vineta’s devotion to her faith never wavered. She loved to fellowship, study the Bible, and regularly shared God’s word with her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Her prayers for her family and loved ones reached far across the globe.
Vineta is survived by her husband, six children, fourteen grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. She was the last surviving sibling of the Lifa-Mamea family. Vineta will be remembered for her radiant smile, dedicated service, steadfast faith, and unconditional love for God and her family.
A visitation for Vineta will be held Thursday, October 3, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Palm Mortuary - Cheyenne, 7400 West Cheyenne Avenue, Las Vegas, NV 89129. A funeral service will occur Friday, October 4, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 12:45 PM at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Dr, Boulder City, NV 89005.
