Her family moved from Oklahoma to New Mexico, and then to Arizona where she graduated from Mesa High School in 1957. After graduating high school, she moved to California. Virginia worked multiple jobs at one time, primarily serving in the grocery business for many years as a meat wrapper. She was an active leader in her community and a key member of the Tempe Soroptimist Club (a global volunteer organization enhancing the lives of women and girls through education programs leading to social and economic empowerment). Her other occupations and businesses throughout her life included management and operation of multiple stores owned by the world’s largest convenience retailer; working in the casino industry, and co-manager of an apartment complex with her husband for several years prior to her retirement in 2015. She enjoyed dancing and bowling in her younger years; and reading, puzzles, music, video poker, playing cards, watching tv, and spending time with her family. Virginia was a woman of faith, strong, and determined; she brought joy to everyone she met and was proud of and loved her family deeply.
