Vivian Ludean West

Vivian West, of Las Vegas, NV, departed this life on February 18, 2026. She was born in Bell City, MO on August 23,1946, the daughter of Rev. William West and Mrs. Cleoda Sanders West. She moved with her parents and 6 of her 12 siblings to Decatur, IL, in 1953. Dean, as her family and many of her friends called her, worshipped with the family at Antioch M.B. Church. In 1962, she graduated from MacArthur High School, attended business college, and accepted employment with the Illinois Bell Telephone Company. She raised her son, Derrick, in Los Angeles, CA, where she worked for Prudential Insurance Company. Vivian excelled with the company, accepted a job transfer to Minneapolis, MN, and retired there in 2000. In 2001, she moved to spend the rest of her life in the warm, sunny Las Vegas valley.

Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, 7 brothers, William D. West, Robert H. West, Isaiah O. Saleem, Jethro West, Malvin C. West, John O. West, and Clarence E.

West, and 2 sisters, Dorothy M. Pullen, and Daisy M. West-Kirkpatrick.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her son Derrick L Harding, her grandchildren, Meagan, Christopher, Derrick Jr., her great-grandchildren, Kane, Kohen, Christopher Jr., Ella Rose, Luna, 2 sisters, Marion M. Lourant, and Ethell. West, 1 brother, Karlton West, 1 nephew raised as a brother, Kelvin E. West, stepdaughters Bridgette and Rochelle, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at Palm Mortuary - South Jones, 1600 South Jones Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89146, US, on May 2, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
