Wanda Hardy

Wanda Hardy was born on January 6, 1958, in Modesto, California, to the union of Leo Mitchell and Misssionary Ollie D. Mitchell. She was raised in Stockton, California, where she built lifelong relationships and laid the foundation for a life rooted in faith, family, and service.

Wanda was a devoted woman of God. She was raised in the True Light Apostolic Church in Stockton, California, and throughout her life remained connected to church and fellowship, worshiping with a host of other congregations. Her faith guided her actions and shaped the love she freely gave to everyone around her.

Wanda was a pillar of strength for her family. She played an instrumental role in helping raise not only her own children, but also extended family members, always opening her heart and her home. She was loving, dependable, strong, and deeply compassionate. If you were hungry, you knew there was food. If you needed rest, you knew there was a place to sleep. And if you needed safety, Wanda made sure you had it.

She is survived by her siblings: Bruce Mitchell of Stockton, California; Pat Mitchell of Las Vegas, Nevada; Robin Mitchell of Virginia; and Ronnie Mitchell of Fresno, California.

Wanda leaves to cherish her memory her beloved children: Taiwana Cornish of Las Vegas, Nevada; James Cornish of Modesto, California; Tanisha Casel of Modesto, California; Latasha Casel of Las Vegas, Nevada; and Mickos Mitchell of Stockton, California. She was a proud grandmother of 12 and a great-grandmother of 5. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who were blessed by her love and guidance.

While Wanda was known for her nurturing spirit, she was also known for her honesty—you always knew where you stood with her. She could tell you about yourself in a heartbeat, but it was always rooted in love and a desire to see you do better.

Wanda Hardy’s presence was a blessing, her love was a shelter, and her legacy will live on through the many lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
