Wardia Vera Nobles, the daughter of Youkhana and Asmier Narsi, was born on October 2, 1951, in Dora, Iraq. At the age of 12, she immigrated with her family to London, England. Vera attended school and received her “O’ level and “A” level certifications. While in school, she excelled in many sports, especially netball and track and field. In 1969, she met her future husband Roy C. Nobles, who was in the United States Air Force and stationed at RAF Alconbury in England. They dated and were engaged for two years before traveling back to the United States and getting married on December 23, 1971 in North Carolina. The couple received their first orders to transfer to Adana, Turkey in 1972. While travelling across the globe, Vera and Roy welcomed two children to their family, Dewayne and Delayna. While raising her children, Vera also managed to have a work career. Vera started working as a waitress at the NCO Club and was promoted to events coordinator for the entire military base. After settling in Las Vegas, Nevada, Vera worked as a bank teller at Nevada Federal Credit Union. Vera soon sought a different challenge and became a food server at Sizzler restaurants and then at Boulder Station. Vera’s most exciting job was working for newly formed National Airlines, where she was a senior customer service agent and thoroughly enjoyed her “extended family” at the airline. After retiring, Vera focused her time and energy on her five grandchildren. She loved spending time and teaching her grandchildren how to read and write and taking them on various trips in and out of town. She also took great pride in teaching them her native language, Assyrian. In 2006, Vera was diagnosed with lung cancer and was given two years to live. However, Vera, in her typical fighting style, exceeded those expectations and beat back the cancer. In 2008, she was diagnosed with brain cancer and underwent treatment. Again, she beat the odds and continued on with living a full life. On July 31, 2013, Vera finally lost her battle with cancer. In addition to her parents, Vera was preceded in death by brothers Athniel Narsi, William Narsi, and Narsi Narsi, and her sister Virginia Narsi-Naimett. Vera leaves behind to cherish her memory: a devoted husband, Roy C; loving son, Dewayne (Renee); loving daughter, Delayna (Brian); five adorable grandchildren, Kayla, Devyn, Malia, Miley, and Maiya; caring brothers Albert Dawod (Julie) and Fraidon Narsi (Nina); caring sisters Almass Daoud and Evelyn Daoud. Additionally, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends who help celebrate her life and memory.
