

On Wednesday, January 4, 2017, Warren Bernard Barney, Sr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, departed this life. Warren was preceded in death by his parents, Ella and James Barney and six sisters and four brothers.
Warren was educated in Baltimore City, graduating from Frederick Douglas High School and attending Morgan State University, then called Morgan State College. Warren also followed the men in his family in service to his country, joining and being honorably discharged from the United States Navy as a young man.
Warren spent most of his career with the Social Security Administration, retiring after 30 years of service, ending his service as Branch Chief, Disability Quality Branch. Warren loved traveling and cruising with his family and many friends. He enjoyed nearly 31 years of retirement, relaxing, traveling, cruising, and helping other seniors with their daily errands, among other things.
Warren is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 66 years, Christine I. Barney (Hayes). He also leaves behind 5 children: Lynne Barney Porter (Marion) of Bowie, MD; JoAnne Barney of North Las Vegas, NV; Sharon Barney Pettaway of Las Vegas, NV; Shelly Engel (Richard) of Castaic, CA; and Warren B. Barney, Jr. of North Las Vegas, NV. Warren was blessed with eight grandchildren: Aaron Engel, Jessica Taylor White, Ashley Taylor, Jason Pettaway, Rosa Barney, Jerad Pettaway, David Engel, and Warren B. Barney III and three great grandchildren, Willow Engel, Andrew White, and Roman Engel. Finally, Warren leaves behind a beloved sister, Iris Palestine Davis of Baltimore, MD and a beloved niece, Ida Morsell, also of Baltimore, MD, as well as a host of other nieces and nephews.
