

Wilbur J. “Wally” Wallace Sr., a 56 year resident of Las Vegas, surrounded by his family passed away peacefully Thursday, October 29th, 2015, at Nathan Adelson Hospice. He was born on January 29, 1928 in Kansas City, MS. At age 16 year he began his career by entering the merchant marines, in the engine room, he traveled the world by the time he was 18 yrs. old. He later served in the United States Air force, during this time he met his wife Betty Jane Floyd. After a very short courtship they married and continued building a family until Betty’s death in 1996 (45 years). During the early years of their marriage they had two sons, Danny and Donald. His training in the Air Force and his intellect, landed him a career in the atomic testing program, working for Lawrence Livermoore Laboratories. A job transfer to Southern California Sherman Oaks area where he welcomed in his only daughter Suzanne Rachel. The family moved to Las Vegas in 1961 to work at the Nevada Test Site for the next 33 years for L.L.L., E.G.& G. and R.E.E.C.O. He enjoyed his job every single day. One year after being in Las Vegas his last son was born, Jody Wallace. During this time of his life he was very happy and successful. He was great at everything he did from coaching Little League baseball, umping Little League to becoming an amazing Marine Artist, the best husband, Dad and Papa around. Everyone enjoyed his kind gentle happy spirit. He retired from the test site and enjoyed his retirement very much. In 1996 he lost his wife Betty to cancer and this was a very tough time for him. A few years later he married his second wife Catherine, whom he stayed married to till the end. They had an amazing relationship and enjoyed each other’s company very much. Traveling in the motorhome with their “group” was a favorite of theirs. He enjoyed life better than anyone and always enjoyed laughing with his friends and family. A great support to each child, sharing his wealth of wisdom. He is forever in our hearts. He is survived by his loving wife, Catherine, his children Donald J Wallace (Kristi) and Suzanne R. Anderson (Craig), Wilbur J. “Jody” Wallace Jr. (Jennifer) Grandchildren Leslie Gehring, Stacy Lee (John), Brooke Wallace, Jordan Wallace (Shaylynn), Jason Wallace, Courtney Anderson, Sarah Anderson. Great Grandchildren Wacey Gehring, Colton Raitt, Betty Jayne Gehring, Caston Wallace and Lincoln Lee. Great- Great Grandchildren Noah Gehring. His son Daniel E. Wallace preceded him in death along with his great- great grandchild Case Dennison. Visitation will be Saturday November 7th, 2015 1pm to 5pm at Palm Mortuary 7400 West Cheyenne Ave. Las Vegas, NV 89129. A Celebration Memorial Service will be held on December 5th, 2015 at 2pm at Summerlin Community Church 2100 Snow Trail Las Vegas, V 89134.
