William Bill Alvin Feldkircher

William Alvin Feldkircher passed away on May 2, 2012, in Las Vegas at the age of 85. He was born on March 29, 1927, in Cleveland, Ohio to Theresa Struckle Feldkircher and Alvin Leo Feldkircher. Bill has been a resident of Las Vegas for the past 15 years.

Bill attended Cathedral Latin High School in Cleveland from 1941-1945, and was a member of the city championship football teams of 1943 and 1944, and the state of Ohio championship football team of 1944. During his senior year in March 1945, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy with boot camp at Great Lakes Naval Training Station, Illinois and was later selected for the V-12 Officer Training Program stationed at the University of Missouri, transferring to Purdue University after the first semester.

He received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Purdue, and also elected to continue with the peacetime Navy program (NROTC), receiving a reserve commission as Ensign-Civil Engineering Corps (Seabees) in 1949. While at Purdue, Bill was a member of the Boilermaker football teams of ’46, ’47 and ’48, winning two letters, as well as a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon social fraternity.

Following graduation he joined Square D Co., Detroit, Mich., a manufacturer of electrical power and control equipment, as a field engineer. Later he transferred to Toledo, Ohio as District Sales Manager. He joined the Hevi-Duty Electric Div., Sola Basic Industries, Milwaukee, WI as VP Sales, and later VP Marketing. Division headquarters was moved to Goldsboro, N.C. in 1967. During this period, Bill was a company-sponsored participant in the Executive Program at the University North Carolina at Chapel Hill Graduate School of Business Administration.

In 1971, he was appointed President, Sierra Electric, Gardena, CA, from which he retired in 1981. At that point Bill became an independent representative for companies in the electrical equipment field, first in Los Angeles and then in Las Vegas, NV until 1999.

Bill is survived by his wife of 31 years, Barbara Good Feldkircher, daughters Barbara Hardy (Charles), Joan Margulis, and Nancy Estes (Phil), and twelve grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:40 a.m. Tuesday, May 8 at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery 1900 Buchanan Boulevard Boulder City, Nevada, burial to follow. A memorial service and celebration of Bill’s life will be scheduled in Cleveland, Ohio at a later date.
